Recommended Practitioners
Many more people would benefit from somatic healing than I am personally able to see! In case my practice is not a fit for you for schedule or budget reasons, here are other practitioners I recommend:
My teachers and advanced colleagues (usually also full):
Dr. Myles O’Donnell, Oakland: ‘Somatic chiropractic’ (interdisciplinary light touch with medical-grade anatomical precision)
Kiva Brown, Oakland: Very good for clients who need intense emotional release.
Joy Carey, Philadelphia: Structural integration, scarwork, bonework. Will fix your anatomy; again with medical-grade anatomical precision.
Therapists / somatic coaches:
Adrian Orozco Blair, Washington / Online: I consider him an energy-healer-as-therapist. Around him, my feelings start feeling themselves.
James Mayfield Smith, Asheville NC / Online: I met him around a campfire in Asheville and he was an early teacher of mine.
Bodywork generalists (still great for less complex cases):
Emma Arata, San Francisco: Esalen-inspired massage + myofascial + intuitive deep tissue
Emilia Ghergut, Berkeley: Thai massage + craniosacral
Soon-to-graduate members of what I colloquially call the MIT Department of Bodywork:
Ray Fong, Oakland (wait list): another MIT alum! Practices structural methods. Not relaxing but will fix your anatomy.
More coming soon ~
Metabolic support:
Jessica Vellela, online: An Ayurvedic doctor that is wildly more effective than any other metabolic-health practitioner I’ve met. Though, note, her methods can be involved. She’s good for people who are more bottlenecked on “suggestions that work” rather than “capacity to implement said suggestions.”
